Originality and Author Policies

Gigvvy Science platform provides an ethical framework for publishers and Journals in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics’s (COPE) code of conduct for author, journal editorial boards and publishers.

Manuscript previously submitted to an institutional repository, a thesis, or preprint server, for example; AgtiXiv, bioRxiv, or ArXiv, can be re-submitted for publication under the guideline of the original publisher. All manuscript and articles must be original and must not published previously at another publisher, including in a language other than English. If there is any duplicate text, world, table or image, with another paper, appropriate citation should be incorporated. If a manuscript or article is extended from a conference article, declaration, clearly citation and discussion should be made in the cover letter. Gigvvy Science platform checks for plagiarism, and if any clear plagiarism is identified, the article may be rejected or retracted by the original publisher. Gigvvy Science discourages inappropriate or excessive self-citation in article. If there are any suspicion of excessive self-citation in any article, please contact the original publisher office. Redundant publication, duplication, similar article or salami slicing may result in rejection or retraction by the original publisher.

You warrant and represent on behalf of yourself and your co-authors, and you are authorized by your co-authors to enter the following agreement; The Content is original and has not been previously published. The Contents you provided do not infringe any duty of confidentiality which you may owe to anyone else or violates any contract, and all of the institutions, organizations, and/or companies in which work recorded in the Contents was carried out have authorized publication of the Content; and if the Content includes materials of others, you have obtained the permission of the copyright owners of all such materials to enable you to grant this license; Nothing in the Content is libellous, defamatory, obscene, or violates any right of privacy or infringes any intellectual property rights or any other human, personal or other rights of any person or entity or is otherwise unlawful; You agree you grant Gigvvy the non-exclusive right to distribute, publish, display, license, reproduce, and store the Contents including without limitation any words, artwork, figures, gif, video, tables, text, images, and photographs contained therein, in whole or in part, in all forms, formats and media whether now known or yet to be developed, including print, digital and electronic form and as transparencies.

The original publisher will inform all co-authors of the submission of the article. Author is required to ensure that the article is in full adherence with the journal policies, and all co-authors are aware of the policies. Corresponding author has the responsibility for their publication charges and must pay at any point during Editorial Acceptance. The corresponding author should ensure the submission is free from spelling and grammatical errors. All manuscripts are subject to peer review process, and peer reviewers’ identities will remain anonymous to the authors unless specified by the original publisher. Authors have the right to suggest excluded reviewers in their cover letters and through Gigvvy Science platform and this information will be forwarded to the academic editor.

The Journal may require the corresponding author provides an Ethics statement with details the relevant ethical standards when conducting the research and the work. Ethics statement should also be provided at the end of the manuscript, if outlined by the Journal.



Peer Review Process

All articles submitted through Gigvvy Science platform undergo formal peer review invited by the Journal's editorial boards. The peer-review process is outlined by each Journal and usually a manuscript receives two to three peer review reports. Peer reviewers are experts who meet Journal’s criteria for reviewers, who has qualifications and expertise to judge the content of the manuscript or article and reviewers should have no conflicts of interest. In any case if conflicts of interest with any of the reviewer is suspected, please contact the editorial office of the Journal. The corresponding author may choose to stop peer review process if submitted manuscript has not received any reports after 6 months. Peer review may be discontinued on some manuscript that have not received peer review reports after a long period of time. If the corresponding author has not received peer reviewer report after 3 months time, please contact the original publisher and Journal directly.

Editors and reviewers should immediately decline to be involved with a manuscript when they; Have published together recently or current submitted manuscript with any author listed; financial interest of the research work; feel unable to be objective and give honest feedback; shared an affiliation with any author listed recently; have a close personal connection to any author listed; collaborate or recently collaborated with any author listed. Editors and reviewers must also declare if they have previously discussed the manuscript with any of the authors listed in the manuscript.

The corresponding author may request specific individuals such as editor or reviewers from seeing their submission and should be made only with good reason. The final decision to accommodate reasonable requests lies in the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal, however, both Journal and Gigvvy Science can not guarantee that all requests will be honored.



Copyright and Permissions

Articles from Gigvvy Science are usually published under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY), but it is the author’s responsibility to understand copyright permissions and obtain the appropriate permissions from the original publisher or copyright holder. If the article is published under CC BY license, authors retain copyright. This license allows others to distribute, copy, share, remix, adapt and make commercial use of the work without provide additional permission. However, providing appropriate attribution is required and should be made to the original author. If the author wishes to republish any previously published article, text, images, figures, tables, and supplementary information, contact the original publisher directly. There are several different copyright permissions, for more information visit https://creativecommons.org/. Peer review made for an article are available under license outlined by the original publisher. It is the author’s responsibility to find out peer review copyright permissions from the publisher.



Data and Images

When research or the work is conducted in locations other than at the researchers’ institution such as a field station then a written permission must be obtained according to applicable laws and according to the Journal’s guidelines. All articles are recommended and encouraged to include the original source data underlying the results, with details of any software used to process the results. For material that has been stored in a permanent public museum collection, collection and the accession numbers should be included in the article. All meta-data associated with the published works, for example; DNA sequences, protein and gene ontology or other forms accession numbers or appropriate documentation should be included or according to the original Journal’s guideline. If domain-specific repositories do not exist, authors may deposit in the Open Science Framework, or an institutional repository and provide access information such as DOI number or accession number within the manuscript or article according to the Journal’s guidelines. Authors may also choose to deposit data on other repositories, and DOI reference associated with the data should always be provided in the article. Any software that be made open source, appropriate license is recommended to be clearly stated, and deposited in an appropriate archive.

Photographic images and images submitted through Gigvvy Science should accurately reflect the original image. It is required that all images, figues, data, or images in tables are not manipulated and represent its’ originality. In any cases, modifications that are made to images, figures, or images in tables should be indicated in the manuscript or article according to Journal’s guideline. Any modifications to images that alter the scientific meaning, result or conclusion are not permitted. Any parts or areas from different gels should not be spliced or stitched together. Loading controls should always be included in the gel image. If any modifications to the loading control, images, figures, images in tables, or pictures, detail documentation should be clearly justified in the article, including the name of the software (with version number) used to make these modifications. In any cases, where images, figures, or pictures suspected of manipulations are detected, clarification by the corresponding author is needed. If the reason for image manipulations are not explained, manuscript or article may be rejected or retracted by the original publisher following COPE guidelines.



Misconduct, Errors and Retraction

If any case of suspected research or article misconduct is brought to the attention of the publisher, Gigvvy Science will follow COPE guidelines. Publisher may contact the author’s university, research institution, or ethics committee. In the case where errors are identified in published articles, contact the publisher editorial office directly. The publisher will consider which action is required and may consult the editorial board, authors and or authors’ institutions. If errors are found to significantly affect the results and conclusions or if any evidence of misconduct is found, article may be retracted following the COPE Retraction Guidelines.

The authors of submitted manuscripts or published articles that are found to have fabricated or falsified the results, including the manipulation of data, images, pictures, tables, and published articles may be retracted by publishers. In any cases where research involves animals or humans that has not been carried out within an ethical framework, articles may also be retracted. Gigvvy Science has the right to retract articles which are found to be misconducted or fraudulent. Publication misconduct also includes duplicate publication or article plagiarism. Authors must not use the text, figures, images, table or ideas of others without attribution, and original sources must be cited at the point they are used in the article. If you wish to make an appeal about an editorial decision or make a complaint you should contact the editorial office of the publisher directly. Appeals must be submitted to the original publisher with detailed information and authors should be aware that appeals may take several weeks to be resolved. Acknowledgements and Conflicts of Interest

It is encouraged to list everyone who made contributions to the research in the manuscript and agreed to be an author. Author contributions may be described at the beginning or at the end of the submission depending on Journal’s guideline. Changes in authorship must be declared to the journal and agreed to by all authors listed in the manuscript. Anyone who contributed to the research, for example; anyone who is employed or paid by a funder, the preparation or editing of the manuscript, involved in conception, planning, design, conduct, or analysis of the work, or the decision to publish should be acknowledged at the end of the manuscript with their permission, All funding sources such as grants, institutional, and or corporate must be declared detailed in the funding disclosure statement in the article or according to the Journal’s guidelines.

All potential ‘Conflicts of Interest’ or ‘Competing Interests’ must be declared by the corresponding author and explain why the interest may be a conflict. If there are none to declared, state “The author(s) declare(s) that there are no conflicts of interest regarding the publication of this paper.” or ‘No competing interests were disclosed’. Declared ‘Conflicts of Interest’ or ‘Competing Interests’ may be included in the published article followed by the original publisher’s guideline. In most cases, this declaration will not affect publication however, editors and reviewers are expected to consider any conflicts of interest before agreeing to review. Reviewers are suggested to confirm that they have no competing interests before submitting their review. Examples of ‘Conflict of Interest’ or ‘Competing Interests’ include, but are not limited to; Financial funding and other payments, goods and services received; financial benefits after publication; personal, friends, family, relationships, and other close personal connections with any of the authors; competitors or someone whose work is critiqued; employed by, on the advisory board for, or a member of an organization with an interest in the outcome of the publication; receives salary or any forms of payment from an organization, or holding stocks or shares from a company, that might benefit (or lose) financially from the publication; affiliations and memberships with interest groups relating to the content of the publication; authors from commercial; organizations or pharmaceutical companies that sponsor clinical trials, should declare a conflict of interest on submission; patent activity on the results; beliefs, activism, political or religious, relevant to the publication; consultancy for the publication. If an undisclosed ‘conflict of interest’ is brought to the attention of the editorial board after publication, the Journal should follow the COPE guidelines.

What are the Information Gigvvy collect about you?

Gigvvy collects any information contained in any correspondence between you and Gigvvy. User information will only be shared with third parties as necessary to complete a contract or to provide services you have requested or authorized or with the explicit consent of the user. Gigvvy shares your information and data with other editors and reviewers, and with organisations that help deliver services. In some cases, where you have consented, your name will be shown on a published manuscript that you have reviewed, and so will be public. How long will Gigvvy retain the data for?

Data related to a manuscript is retained as long as the rest of the manuscript data is retained. Data related to the payment of fees is retained for as long as required for legal and accounting requirements. Unsubmitted manuscripts are stored up to two years from your last update, or until you delete the data. Published manuscripts are stored indefinitely at both the original publisher as we as Gigvvy server, as they are part of the scientific and public record, and to fulfill our contract with you. The data related to a manuscript will be your basic contact data, review comments and discussions. Rejected manuscripts are stored up to five years to deal with appeals and re-submissions, and related business analysis.

Gigvvy will retain your information for as long as is necessary to provide you with the services that you have requested from us or long as we reasonably require to retain the information for our lawful business purposes, such as for the purposes of exercising our legal rights or where we are permitted to do; Gigvvy maintaining a data protection policy for, and delivering data protection training to our employees, and limiting access to your personal information to those in our company who need to use it in the course of their work; Gigvvy archive your email, articles, contents, paper, and comments, correspondence regularly and destroy information no longer required for our legitimate purposes; Gigvvy retain information on the server logs for up to two years to process aggregated and de-identified publication metrics; Gigvvy retain information relating to job applicants for a period of 6 months from an application decision; Gigvvy maintain a suppression list of email addresses of individuals who no longer wish to be contacted by us.

Gigvvy stores your payment information when you place an order for goods and services. This information will be retained for six years following the end of the financial year in which you placed your order, in accordance with our legal obligation to keep records for tax purposes.

Gigvvy retains your profile account information for as long as you decide to maintain an account. Information related to authoring, reviewing, or editing a manuscript will be retained in accordance with our manuscript retention periods above. Spam and or fake accounts are subject to immediate removal. Gigvvy retains the information you used to sign up for our content alerts, newsletters, and or subscription for as long as you remain subscribed or if we decide to cancel the services.

In any circumstances, Gigvvy will retain your information for no longer than necessary, by taking into account the following; the levels of risk, cost and liability involved with us continuing to hold the information; the purpose and use of your information both now and in the future; the necessity to continue to store that information in order to continue to perform our obligations under a contract with you or to contact you in the future; how hard it is to ensure that the information can be kept up to date and accurate; whether we have any legal basis to continue to process your information; whether we have any legal obligation to continue to process your information; any relevant agreed industry practices on how long information should be retained; any relevant surrounding circumstances.



How does Gigvvy keep your information secure?

Giggvy takes the security of your personal information very seriously and stores and processes your personal information in accordance with applicable law. Gigvvy takes professional technical and organizational measures to secure your information and to protect it against unauthorized or unlawful use and accidental loss or destruction. Gigvvy only shars and providing access to your information to the minimum extent necessary, on a de-identified basis wherever possible, and subject to confidentiality restrictions where appropriate. Gigvvy using secure encrypted servers to store your information, Gigvvy verifies the identity of any individual who requests access to information prior to granting them access to information. Payment

Gigvvy use a third-party payment provider ("Payment Provider") to bill you through a payment account linked to your Membership Plan or Article Processing Charge (“APC”) on the Services for use of the Paid Services. The processing of payments will be subject to the conditions, privacy policies and terms of the Payment Provider in addition to this Agreement.

In any case an article is accepted for publication, the corresponding author originally submitting the article intended for publication will be invoiced for the applicable APC. Payments of APC must be made in the period stipulated on the invoice. Payments must be made in full via the Payment Provider and in accordance with such provider’s terms of service. Payment by any other means is permitted only in our sole discretion. Publication of an article with the original publisher requires payment of a non-refundable APC in accordance with publisher’s APC Policy listed for each journal. You agree that payment of an APC does not guarantee publication of an article by the Journal or the original publisher. You authorize us, through the Payment Provider, to charge your chosen payment provider ("Payment Method") and you agree to make payment using that selected Payment Method.
